Cross-cutting issues

A crossroad made of dirt

Environment, gender and anti-bribery are cross-cutting topics in every project that SIS implements. The work on environment and its standards is described in detail under Environment and climate.

SIS has signed the UNECE declaration on Gender Responsive Standards Initiative. It aims at supporting national standardization organizations to design and implement actions to ensure that the standard development process is gender inclusive and equal, that management and employers strive for gender equality and that the resulting standards are gender responsive and can be used by women and men.

ISO 37001 on anti-bribery gives public and private sector organizations guidance to prevent, detect and handle bribes. It also provides directions on anti-bribe laws and voluntary commitments that are applicable to organizations. The standard guides SIS work with partners in developing countries.
